On February 11th, eighth graders participated in "Engineers Teaching Algebra." In this fast-paced program, led by Mr. Mark Love, a managing engineer for a global transportation firm, students used algebraic equations to determine traffic patterns at intersections to increase safety. They also considered how computers can be programmed to find solutions to problems but were cautioned to see the computer as a tool that should not replace thinking. Mr. Love spoke of all the applications that math has in current and future careers. This STEAM Enrichment Program was made possible by Annual Giving contributions to the LPTO from parents and caregivers like you. Thank you.
