5th Graders Learn About Colonial America Through PTO

October 11, 2019

This past Friday, the fifth graders participated in a fantastic PTO enrichment program! The Bay Colony Educators, led by historians Tim and Carol, took the kids on a trip back in time to explore what Lincoln Town would have been like for English children in the 1750’s. Ask your child: where the phrases “put your best foot forward” of "flip your wig" come from, what a “pudding cap” is, when children were considered adults in the 1700's, or why children with light hair are called “towheads” (and why tow was so important). This program helped bring to life what the 5th graders are learning in social studies about Colonial America.

This program is sponsored by the PTO and funded by generous Annual Giving contributions from families like yours. The PTO spends approximately $100 per student on programs like this for each grade. If you haven’t yet made your Annual Giving contribution, please consider doing so today at https://www.lpto.org/contribute.

Thank you!
