New Families

Are you new to the Lincoln School? Maybe you have an entering kindergartener or you just transferred to our school. Welcome! Here's some information to help bring you into our community.

The Lincoln PTO Newcomers Committee Welcomes You!

On behalf of the Lincoln School Parent Teacher Organization (LPTO), we would like to extend a warm welcome to the 2019-20 school year. Every member of the Lincoln School community is a member of our PTO and we are excited to get to know you and your family. We know that it can be a bit overwhelming to start a new school. For some of you, this is the first experience of having school-age children. For others, both the school and the Town of Lincoln are new. Our goal as the PTO Newcomers Committee is to help you successfully transition into the Lincoln School by providing useful information for navigating the town and school system.

To help get the year started, we will be hosting several events during the first weeks of school to facilitate connections with other families in the community. We hope you can join us at some of these gatherings including:

* a Welcome Party Drop-in on Thursday, August 29th at 7:45AM Smith Computer Lab

* an After School Picnic Lemonade Party on Wednesday, September 4th at 12:35PM Red Playground

* an Early Morning Coffee on Friday, September 13th at the Story Room (by the library) at 7:45AM

Please also join us at the Welcome Back Picnic on September 5th, from 5-7pm at the Green Playground/Smith Field.

To further help facilitate connections, the PTO creates an annual school directory (known as Membership Toolkit (MTK)) which will be available the first week of school. The PTO will provide more details about how to use the new MTK website and MTK app, as well as how you can get a paper copy. Please stay tuned!

Thanks to the generous donations of Lincoln School families, the PTO is able to support teachers and staff with funding for student enrichment programs (last year enrichment presented 40 programs across all grade levels and subject areas!) and offers a wide variety of programs and events for the community – please see second page for a list of recent programs and events. The success of the PTO is due to the active participation of our Lincoln School families and we hope that all of our new families will join in.

Please let us know how we can help support you in your transition to the Lincoln School. We look forward to getting to know you and your families in the coming year. Please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

Sandra Coleman
